Sightseeing in Bodrum

  -The beauty of Bodrum in Turkey is not only found along the beaches, although the golden sands and dazzling blue bay are very inviting, but there is so much more to explore in this popular and pretty tourist destination.

  -Bodrum is a picturesque port, known as the Halicarnassus of Caria in ancient times and certainly has plenty of historical remains to see.

  -Perhaps the first port of call is the 15th century Bodrum Castle of the Knights of St John which is one of Bodrum's most popular sites to see, the impressive medieval structure stands proudly at the entrance to the bay and is well worth a visit.

  -Also housed in the castle is the Underwater Archeology Museum, an interesting attraction where you can see all kinds of objects that have been recovered from the sea.

  -If you fancy yourself as a bit of a history buff then visit the Tomb of Mausolus which is known as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and dates back to 353 BC.

  -From the castle, look out over the pretty marina area which is filled with expensive yachts bobbing about in the harbour.   

  -One of the best ways to explore Bodrum is not by foot but by boat.

  -Hop onboard a trip to nearby Karaada where you can bathe in the mineral waters of the grotto which are said to have health and beautifying benefits.
